I’m not sure if this is a quote by someone notable, ancient, or if it’s even a quote at all. In fact, if it’s not, I’m claiming it ; ) But seriously. I tend to shy away from personal posts on my business blog. These five simple words, though, relate so much to what I do in my life, whether it be family, friends, work, or just life in general. So I’m going to take a second to expand.

It’s a mindset, not a physical act of standing in a beautiful, open field of wildflowers all day long (although that sounds perfectly dreamy). I see beauty in the darkest of situations. I feel like this is such a necessary part of being an artist. ‘Finding the silver lining’, if you will. Making lemonade out of lemons, working with what you’ve got.

Positivity is something that I need in order to thrive. There are countless situations where things have not gone according to plan either at photo sessions or weddings and you know what? Everything turned out to be not only ok, but beautiful.

Negativity is ugly, and it shows in photos. When something goes wrong, I find the positive in the situation & embrace it. There’s not much else I feel I can do. Negativity wastes time, energy, and emotion and it’s just not worth it. So the next time something doesn’t go your way, go hug someone you love. Because it’s beautiful and you can. Appreciate what you have & love without ceasing, and count your blessings instead of your troubles.
